JAMES ALTUCHER & THE DUTY OF DOING NOTHING

BRAIN DOING NOTHING by Alejandro Gheorghe, 6 years old
There are some people who ask me: "why do you write blog posts about famous people, just to attract attention to you?" Well here is the best answer, coming from a genius of whose existence I did not know until 2 minutes ago: James Altucher: When I want to be remarked, to feel wanted, admired, etc., I DO NOTHING!
Do nothing when you want to be liked. How many times have I gone to a meeting? Taken a trip abroad? Made stupid investments? Written an article? Done did doing does? Just so someone would like me: a mother, a father, a friend, a reader, an investor, a customer, a stranger. Answer: a lot of times. Too many times. And it works. I put in the input (flattery, attention, false love) and get out the output (false love back). And continue to live the illusion in search of the dream, in avoidance of the nightmare, ignorant of the reality. Do I make any money this way? Do I feel a sense of accomplishment? In my 25 years of business: Never. (J.A.)
James Altucher is a genius simply because he is able to synthesize, in a few lines, crucial issue that some of clients need years of guidance to only accept them as possible: the ability to do NOTHING when everything and everybody tells you that you should do more. This is particularly challenging if your subconscious is emotionally imprinted by a Culture of DOING (vs. a culture of Being).

Of course, there are many other connections that I make reading the great "5 Ways of Doing Nothing and Be More Productive". And one is really important, because it is related to one of my favorite authors:

The Pause is especially important for the freedom of being, which I call the essential freedom. For it is in the Pause that we experience the context out of which Freedom comes. In the Pause we wonder, reflect, sense awe, and conceive of eternity. The Pause is when we open ourselves to the concepts of both Freedom and Destiny.
(Rollo May, "Freedom and Destiny")
And one more thing: although I have lived in California for the last 14 years, my kind of wit seems to be outsourced to New York City.
